The Trouble With MY Blog..

This is a bit of a brain dump post and is probably my blogs midlife crisis but I'm kind of  the point where I'm not sure how to carry on blogging any more?

I've never had to write one of these types of posts before as I'm never sure how much I should/ want to share on here. But this is something I really wanted to share :)  If there is anybody who has been reading my blog for a long time, you might remember I wrote a post about feeling lost.  It was a very personal post about not really knowing what to with myself after facing some really undeserved set backs at work. Well fast forward to now and I have completely turned it around! I haven't really achieved anything remarkable but for me I have honestly really hit a personal life goal, (sorry for the cringe phasing, but I don't know how else to put it).

A few years ago I was utterly miserable. I was trying  to succeed in a dead end job, working awful shifts with 0 social life and was going stir crazy with boredom. I honestly thought I was going to die in that place (dramatic, yes) But as the old cliche saying goes- if you don't like something. Change it. So I did. And I'm so much happier!

Which leads me to my blog. The whole reason I started it was because I was so unfulfilled and I needed a hobby that was 1. (initially) free and 2. gave me some creative freedom. But now I am fulfilled and I'm not sure how blogging fits in with my new life. The trouble with my blog is, I don't think I ever had any goals with it, but I've been doing it for so long that it feels like I should be able to keep up/ succeed at it, but I don't think I get anything out of blogging anymore.

I'm not saying I'll never blog again, but it's going to take a while for me to figure out how to do it and where I fit in, in the blogging community. I've definitely lost my 'blogging mojo' and winter doesn't help with zero lighting for outfit pictures plus the fact that I don't exactly live that 'blogger lifestyle' of PR events, press samples and blogger mail.

So what am I going to do? Well....Instagram. That old chestnut! I think I'm one of the few people who isn't majorly affected by the algorithm (probably because my following is so small). I'm also kind of happy with the content I'm putting out there, more so than my blog, which has got me thinking of doing micro blogging instead. I'm not expecting to ever be a 'proper Instagramer' and gain tens of thousands of followers in a few weeks, but I do find it an easier platform to manage. I find with a blog post, it's a much bigger body of work-if that makes sense? I need to make time to take photos (as does Jon), I need to schedule tweets about the post, and instagram pictures and actually write a post to go with it! Not to mention all the other meta-data and back linking to go with it.

Whereas with Instagram, I can take all my pictures myself in bulk and edit them to in the same day. I also don't have to write anything in the captions if I don't want to- I'm not a natural writer, so that's always the hardest part of blogging for me. I also find it slightly easier to engage with people on instagram (shock horror!)

So while I'm not exactly saying goodbye to blogging, I'm just saying bye for now. I'm sure I'll be back and I know I'll miss it!
