Trainers: Nike Stefan Janoski

I'm not normally one to dedicate a whole post to one item, but I like reading up on things in a little more detail sometimes, plus I've fallen in love with said item. A pair of trainers. I'm not a trainer person. Period. My first ever pair of trainers at age 11, were second hand from a friend of mine... who was a boy; I experimented with the usual converse and vans but outgrew them in my (very) late teens and that is pretty much my trainer history.

JAPAN TRAVEL DIARY | DAY 8 |

Tokyo Disney!

Here ends the last of the Japan diaries, and a summery of my experience out there. I really hope you guys enjoyed reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them. I will definitely blog more about my future travels as they've got quite a good response and I bloody love getting away and experiencing other cultures!

As we were planning our trip we had always decided we all wanted to go to Disneyland and decided that doing it at the very end would be a fun way to spend our last day. (If anyone has ever been to any other Disneyland it is exactly the same, I was expecting a slightly different atmosphere about the place, but it is a pretty universal vibe) The rides are all identical too so I knew what I was expecting on that front. It was early October when we went but it was all Halloween and pumpkin decorations which was extra fun.

#BloggersFestival

This is without a doubt the latest post I've ever done and I don't quite no how/ why this post fell behind but it did :/ Anyway back in September I got the chance to attend the #BloggersFestival, a blogger event hosted by Scarlett London This event gives you the chance to meet/ network with brands and other bloggers. I was super nervous and had no idea what to expect but it was a really nice day out and I even made friends! Something I find tricky to do being an introvert but everyone was lovely.

I'm donating my hair

If you are a long time follower/ reader of this blog, you might have noticed, I have really long hair. Well, not for much longer! Its getting the chop, and its all for a good cause :)

Truth be told, I have no idea how my hair actually got so long... Well the biggest reason is just laziness and not bothering with going to a hairdressers but its just always something I put off, like the dentist almost :/ I never planned to grow my hair super long, I noticed one day it was past my shoulders.... then boob level... then to my elbows and now its basically at my waist. I'm writing this a few days before the chop/ hair appointment and I'm looking forward to it. I'm desperate for a change!

GRWM | KYOTO

Something slightly  different today, its a GRWM :) I love watching these myself and on a lazy morning at our apartment in Kyoto, we decided to film something simple. This was/is pretty much my make up look while I was out there and in general. Thought it was good to have something visual for people to look at, rather than a lot of words, as I know I can waffle on a bit. Hope you guys enjoy :) xxx

JAPAN TRAVEL DIARY | DAY 4 |

A fun filled day: Meiji Shrine, Shibuya and more.....

It was a laid back start to the day and our first thought was breakfast. Our Ryokan was very basic and not equipped to cook in and although it had a coffee shop next door, it was always busy and it is customary to queue up outside a place at lunch time; where most eateries are so small and can only fit a dozen people in it a t a time, most people are happy to wait outside. A quick internet search lead us to an Australian themed cafe called cafe byron bay, which was amazing; It had a good choice of veggie and vegan food too.

Welcome to the Japan Diaries! This will be a little series on my thoughts and experiences about Japan, a diary like entry for myself to look back on as well, as I've tried in the past to write thoughts down about places I've visited, but me being scatty, I misplaced them. So at least they are now online for me to keep and share :)

My 1st Lookbook (& catch up)

I'm Back!
And to celebrate my return and to make up that I haven't blogged in weeks I've got a lookbook for you!
Bt first, Japan!

I fully intend on blogging a travel diary type of thing so you can see what we got up to so I won't say too much about that, apart from it was everything I wanted it to be! I even vlogged a bit, so hopefully there will be some more videos to come in the near future :) But in a nutshell, I loved it! I prefered Tokyo over Kyoto just because I love that city life (I've never lived in a city btw, which is probably why I liked it over Kyoto) Tokyo at night time was my fave, it is neon billboard city, its a lot for your senses to take in; eyes and ears mainly as every shop and crossing will play its own twinkly theme tune. It was my first time using Airbnb too, and now having finally used it can confirm it's an amazing service and would 100% use again.

||| STRIPES |||

I've never quite got the hype about stripes :/ I know they're meant to look very Parisian- chic, Brigitte Bardot esque and meant to flatter 'every body shape', but they just dont do it for me. Every time I see myself in stripes I just don't think they flatter me, I much prefer spots/ polka dots! Having said that, I don't really have any 'fashion rules' if you like something and think it suits you, just get it!

Denim + A Red Lip

A fashion combo that I've only just tried out for myself and I'm loving it! A classic red lip can really pull a whole look together and make you look so glam. I actually wore this outfit for an interview would you believe it? (I don't think you need to always dress formally for an interview). I liked the idea of two different textures together, which is why I chose my faux leather mini. A denim shirt I think could be a good investment piece to your wardrobe too as it can look smart and casual, I like it as a throw on piece with the buttons undone for a more casual approach and the buttons done up to look more formal. You can even try the buttons done all the way up for a more preppy look. Statement necklaces can look awesome with this look too :)

The Lost Jacket

The day these photos were taken I actually lost this jacket, would you believe it?! (This was the first time I'd properly worn it out too!) I think the older I'm getting, the more I lose or misplace stuff. I used to be really good at looking after my things when I was little and it's a talent I'm definitely losing. I'm glad it got to make the blog at least. I lost it in the cinema, after 10 mins of walking out of the screen I thought something was missing and didn't realise till later that night.... 'oh my jacket!' Trying to find a cinemas phone number is quite tricky too, but after a quick chat with general customer services I was told it wasnt there, which leaves it a bit mystery.

I found the jacket in a Zara sale, and I loved how pretty but casual it looked. I love jackets that can be thrown over anything for that effortless look. It was a soft suede like material with a dotted-laser cut flower print all over it. No pockets- its only downfall, but still quite warm, despite the tiny holes in it. I was hoping to wear it to Japan, but I have loads of other jackets to take with me.

Actually if I'm being totally honest I don't internet shop that much at all. I think its because I work in a shopping centre that all my highstreet/ fashion needs are on my doorstep. Confidence and the art of 'owning it'

These are some really old pictures, but I'm in a blogging mood today and really liked how the lighting came out in the pics. I'm also in the process of 'styling'/ helping my BFF for a gig outfit (coz sometimes I do stuff like that). Saying she's fickle is an understatement!! Self-conscious too. Self-conscious about how she'll look to other people and in pictures mainly. Not only is this exhausting and takes the fun out of shopping and outfit planning but also really sad. Why should she feel conscious in an outfit she really likes when she first puts it on, but will doubt 5mins later?

As with most trends, it always goes hand in hand with confidence! With an added sprinkle of not giving a fuck' ;) On the day these photos were taken, I wasn't very organised and I'd forgotten most of my clothes, my hairbrush, no biggie- my hair is a natural state of scruffy anyway haha. And I'd also forgotten my shoes! Thats right, those are my work trainers I'm wearing (really comfy). So having no choice but to wear my trainers with a mini skirt, I thought 'oh well, lets just get on with it' and I actually like this outfit ensemble (maybe with different trainers haha) I now like the jumper/ mini skirt/ trainer combo! I wish more girls wore their clothes with self confidence :) xx

Kendall & Kylie for Topshop

Kendall. Kylie. Topshop. 3 words that definitely caught my interest. I pick out my fave pieces from their first collection with Topshop

I love collabs like this and I'm always curious when there is a new fashion/ celebrity collab.
Especially if it's on the high street, it just makes it that much more accessible to us. And I personally love Kendall, she is my model of the moment! I was slightly disappointed as to how small the collection was as I remember Kate Moss' 2007 collection being a bit bigger, but I imagine they are just testing the water with this one :) This collection is a very LA laid back, cool kinda vibe, perfect for summer so I picked out a few of my fave bits. I hope they have more collections with Topshop in the future!

A day in photos

~I was treated to a day at the zoo
and Jon lent me one of his cameras to get snap happy with~

I thought I would introduce something different to the blog today and show off some snaps I took on the day I went to Howletts Zoo. The zoo was and still is one of my fave options to do on a day out and Jon was very kind as to lend me one of his cameras for the day. Now, I'm aware that there are no pictures of any animals, they were a tad camera shy ;) But these are my fave pics of the day. Howletts Zoo is such a nice environment, really quite, plush and green with lots of little gardens to wander around in- Perfect for a novelist photographer like myself! I'm pretty confident that any pictures taken here would look lovely. Hope you all enjoy the photos :) xx

The Sunglasses Wishlist

Hello, Sunshine

So as I type this, its not exactly sunny but whenever it has been I don't have any to hand, they are all broken or lost. As someone who wore glasses for most of her childhood/ teenage years and then early adulthood I could never wear them (prescription lenses I found were too expensive) so I just put up with squinting in the bright light... so attractive!  I've compiled this wishlist of Sunglasses and as you can tell I'm still a bit of a novice when it comes to what shape and style I like/ that suits me. I have an oval face so can pull off pretty much most shapes, hence why they are all so different.

Embellished denim wishlist

One of the key trends for SS15 is denim and I have to admit I wasn't particularly blown away at first but I was doing a little internet shop and was really inspired by what is on the market at the moment.  Paired with the 70's disco trend denim got a bit more interesting and sparkly! Brands like Bliss and Mischief are great if you like the LA cool look. My internet search also lead me to Shop Style, a feast for the eyes but way out of my price range :( Good for inspiration though if you wanted a go at customizing your own jeans. Unfortunately this trend seems to be a bit expensive (if you ask me) but luckily if you are looking to up-cycle any old jeans and know the basics of sewing this is very affordable/ easy. Just get yourself on the craft section of ebay an pick anything from sequins, ribbon, studs or embroidery templates. Or I've compiled a small high street wish list for you to muse upon :)

What's in my bag?

Not gonna lie, I love a what's in my bag post (blog/ vid) and my bag needed a good old clear out. I've also taken it upon myself to up my photography game, or at least attempt to and its good to learn something new, right? I must admit I did feel silly emptying out the contents of my bag and arranging it nicely to take photos.

I've watched/ read quite a few of these posts before and have noted that most bloggers/ vloggers will say something along the lines of: 'No idea what's in here, just gonna pull stuff out at random' etc etc.. NOPE, not me! My bag was gross, so what you're seeing here is a highly highly edited version ;) Items not included in this post due to a slight ick factor: old receipts, an old cinema ticket (Selma, if you're interested) foreign coins, an empty Oreos packet, broken earphones, fluff and finally dust. I never switch up my handbag even on night out and I don't really go for big oversized bags either I can never fill them up.

Embroided folklore wishlist

One of my fave looks from the catwalk this season has to be the D &G army, fronted by Kendall Jenner, she is my  absolute fave model at the moment! But I absolutely loved the glam/ folky look all the models wore. I think it can go hand in hand with the 70's trend for this SS15 but a bit more put together. I particularly love the embroidery details on the shorts and dresses. I was feeling so inspired by this look that I've been 'researching' where to shop for it online and on the high street; So I've compiled a lil wishlist for y'all. The great thing about this look is that it can be casual or glamorous but focal point is embroidery. If worn with off the shoulder 'peasant tops' (horrible name!) or any white shirt really, it will look much more summery and care free. If you want to make a statement however, pair with bold earrings and bold lipstick.
